Real Racing 3 will be free to play, as Electronic Arts looks to tap into the ever-increasing casual gaming market.
The game will be released on iOS and Android on February 28, with EA SVP for mobile and social game development Nick Earl telling Bloomberg he wants it to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. “The number of gamers we’re seeing moving to mobile devices is extraordinary, and there’s just no sign of it slowing down,” he said.
The two previous Real Racing titles were paid downloads – Real racing 2 currently sells for $4.99 on the App Store – with consumers also able to buy virtual currency.
The new game will feature 900 different events and 600 hours of total game play making it “one of the most expansive games ever on mobile” according to developer Firemonkeys (via TouchArcade).
